Flash is usually allowed in open chambers but creates glare on polished salt walls. Turn it off in tight corridors if staff ask.

Do not block the walking path for group selfies at the mosque replica. Step to the side so the queue behind you can pass.

Tripods can obstruct narrow sections. Ask a staff member before setting one up. Drone flights are not appropriate inside tunnels.

Train queue timing

Groups board in batches when the operator signals. Stand clear of the track until your batch is called.

Hold children's hands on boarding steps. Platforms are uneven and can be slick near the entrance.

What to wear underground

The mine stays near 18°C. A light layer is enough; heavy coats are awkward on the train.

Public holidays and school excursion weeks fill parking and train batches early. If you dislike crowds, pick a weekday outside Eid and summer break peaks.

Monsoon road caution

July and August bring heavy rain to the Salt Range. Hill bends between Chakwal and Khewra can see standing water and slower traffic.

Allow an extra 30 to 45 minutes on the final leg during monsoon weeks. Daylight helps on unlit bends.

Check weather for surface conditions. Underground temperature does not change much, but the drive does.
