The Badshahi Mosque replica is the most photographed spot. It is carved entirely from rock salt and lit with colored lights. The Sheesh Mahal chamber next to it has salt crystals that reflect light like mirrors.

Use night mode or a steady hand in dimmer chambers. Flash is allowed in most tourist areas. Wide-angle lenses capture the scale of salt walls.

Tripods are usually fine but ask staff if you set up in narrow passages. Selfie sticks work in wider chambers.

Camera settings for salt mine light

The chambers are darker than they look in edited social media posts. Start with ISO 800 to 1600 on a DSLR or mirrorless camera, aperture around f/2.8 to f/4, and a shutter speed no slower than 1/60s to avoid blur from hand shake. On phones, switch to night mode and brace your elbows against the salt walls.

White balance often drifts under coloured LED floor lights. Shoot in RAW if your camera supports it, or use your phone's pro mode to lock white balance before entering the Sheesh Mahal.
