Khewra lies in the Salt Range hills of northern Punjab, in Jhelum District. The town is in Pind Dadan Khan Tehsil. Many visitors reach the area after exiting M-2 at the Chakwal or Kallar Kahar interchange, then driving west toward Khewra.
Driving distances vary by route and starting point. From Islamabad, plan roughly 160 to 200 km. From Lahore, about 200 to 260 km via M-2. The mine visitor gate is on the Khewra-Chakwal road, about 3 km from Khewra railway station.
