Check-in at the mine gate

Most individual visitors arrive during typical opening hours and check in at the PMDC counter near the mine entrance. Queue at the counter, then wait for the next train batch. Queues are longest on weekend afternoons and public holidays.

The standard tourist route includes the electric train segment and a walking tour through lit chambers with salt monuments. Ask staff at the entrance when you arrive about current tour inclusions.

School and group visits

School groups, corporate outings, and large parties should speak with PMDC staff at the mine entrance in advance. Visit during opening hours at least one week before your planned trip to coordinate timing and group size.

What the standard tour includes

The public tourist route usually covers the electric train ride from the entrance to the walking section, a guided or self-guided walk through illuminated salt chambers, viewing of the Badshahi Mosque replica, Sheesh Mahal, Minar-e-Pakistan, and brine lake, plus access to the gift shop near the exit.

The tour does not include meals, overnight stays, or transport to the mine. Photography is allowed for personal use. Commercial shoots need PMDC permission in advance.

Notice board at the entrance

PMDC posts current schedules and any temporary changes on the notice board near the gate. Read it on arrival, especially on public holidays and during Eid week.
